Tree service in Theodore, from Dog River to Fowl River
Theodore is where the bay, the rivers and the pine woods meet. Water-side live oaks, pines on sandy lots, and a hurricane path that runs right over the top of it.
Theodore spreads south of Mobile between Dog River and Fowl River, down Dauphin Island Parkway toward Bellingrath Gardens and the bay. It's unincorporated Mobile County for the most part, with waterfront homes under live oaks along the rivers and newer subdivisions under pines off Highway 90 and Theodore Dawes Road. The water is the story here. Sally pushed 2 to 4 feet of surge into the upper bay and Isaias was forecast to do the same, and the soil along the rivers is sandy, low and often saturated. That's the combination that puts shallow-rooted pines over.
Theodore's live oaks are a different matter. The old waterfront oaks along Fowl River and Dog River are survivors, and most of our work on them is pruning: deadwood, weight off the long limbs over the house and the dock, and a cable in a weak fork. The pines get the removals. Beetle-killed pines have been a constant since the 2024 epidemic, and lone pines on the water side of a house are the first thing we point to on a hurricane-prep walk. Outside the city limits there's no tree permit for a residential lot and no City trash pickup; after a big storm Mobile County decides whether to run a debris program, and after Nate in 2017 it didn't, so residents were pointed to the landfills. We haul what we cut either way.

Questions from Theodore homeowners
Will my waterfront live oak survive a hurricane?
Probably, if it's sound. Live oaks are the survivor species on the Gulf Coast. The risk is a specific limb over the roof or dock, a hollow fork, or roots cut for a seawall or driveway. We check those and prune or cable accordingly.
Who picks up tree debris in Theodore?
Unincorporated Mobile County has no regular curbside tree-debris pickup. After a declared storm the County may run a debris program; otherwise it's the landfills. We haul everything we cut, so it isn't your problem.
Can you work near the water?
Yes. We rig pieces back toward the yard rather than dropping them in the river, and we keep equipment off seawalls and docks.
How much does storm cleanup cost in Theodore?
Hangers on one tree $200 to $600, a split or leaning tree $900 to $5,000 depending on size and what it's over, a full-lot cleanup after a hurricane $1,500 to $6,000. Priced in writing by tree.
